All About Roommates uses a proprietary method for contacting members. It is not necessary to have your contact information displayed in order to contact other members (or to be contacted).

While browsing through the available listings, you may find someone that meets your requirements. A "Contact Me" link exists at the top of the member detail page. Click the link, complete and submit the Member Contact Form. It's THAT simple.

To make your listing come to life and stand out from the rest of the listings we recommend the following:

• Provide as much detail about yourself and/or your room for rent as possible in your listing comments.
  • State some of your best qualities, are you a quiet person, do you have a stable income, etc.
  • If your listing a room to rent note items such as garage parking, private bathroom, large yard, close to school, etc.
    
    
• Set up a paying membership to bump your rank in the search results.

With the paying Account, your ad recieves a higher rank in the search results, and your ad is highlighted in green, thus making your ad more visible to others. You will also be able to read your mail messages in their entirety (Non-paying members can read the mail header of each message in their mail box. They are unable to read the message body).

In short, a paying Account maximizes the ability of your listing to reach the most people and produces the best results.

Yes, with a Paying Account you may place up to six pictures with your listing. Photos to consider adding to your listing include: yourself, your pet(s), the room you have for rent, and the exterior of your apartment complex or home.

Photos must be saved as jpegs at 200 pixels wide by 150 pixels deep at 72 dpi. Photos cannot exceed 20k in size.

To upload your photos you will need to create a Paying Account and then log-in to manage your account.

Auto E-mail is a feature that sends out information about you to people in your area looking for a new roommate. It also allows you to receive information about people looking for a roommate.

With any account you have the ability to make your account "Private". A Private account is one that does not appear in the search results and the automatic e-mail messages. It is as if you don't have an account on the system because nobody can find you. However, you still have full access to browse and contact members. You are in complete control of your account. However, since your ad is not visible to other members, your exposer is very limited (you will not receive any contacts from other members unless you initiate it).

However, you will still have access to everyone's contact information while browsing and via the Automatic E-Mail service.
